What have my toons been up to lately? Morticide on Demon Soul had been camping the Dalaran Spellscribe in Silverpine Forest, hoping for the Black Tabby Cat to drop. The cat is usually sold for at least 200-800 gold on Ally side, since Allies can’t kill the Spellscribe, and he’s the one mob that usually drops it. It only dropped once before the Darkmoon Faire started, and since my druids are usually the ones that have herbalism/engineering, they usually don’t have a lot of stuff in their bags, since all herbs go directly to the alchemist or scribe on that server.
So he’s camping the Faire, getting all the herbs and motes he can. I’m also getting the Wood frog and Tree frog non-attack pets from Flik, though it’s annoying to have to chase him down. I’ll try to start collecting Dark Iron Ale mugs from the AH, since that’s the only way for someone to get Jub Jub, the other non-attack pet available there. They were about 25 gold each on the AH though, so I’ll wait until the faire goes away, and the price will probably drop.
But with Abyss Crystals, Francois can buy them, sell them to me, and I can just sell them directly, no need to craft anything with them. At 130-200 gold a pop, that’s easy money!
Gimmershred is doing the same thing on Darrowmere, but I have Misericorde still camped in Silverpine, killing the Spellscribe. I’ve probably had about 5 of the cats drop for me so far, though I’m waiting for Francois’s toons to actually have a sale of one on Alliance side. 300-400 gold isn’t that much, rite rite? :p
I’m glad of another thing with the Wrath expansion. Abyss crystals!! For a while, Void Crystals were my main way of moving gold from Horde to Ally side, or vice versa. But after a while, the price dropped from about 40 gold each to about 2-4 gold each. Not worth Francois stocking up on, and not worth me taking the time to sell. Luckily, on Demon Soul and Daggerspine, I’ve gotten both my mages up to 300 enchanting, so they can do Crusader, Lifesteal, Fiery, Icey, Unholy, and Major Health (100) to chest. Those sell very nicely on the AH after I’ve put them on vellums, and it’s easy for Francois to get the mats for them and have me buy them on the Neutral AH for 1 copper a stack of Greater Eternal Essence, Illusion Dust, Large and Small Radiant/Brilliant shards, and other things. Francois’ toons try to get a bargain on them, but it doesn’t really matter that much, since the gold they’ve made on the opposide side of the server cost me a few silver or gold, and it all gets sold for 100 or 1000 times its original price.

Now you see me (poof), now you don't
5/13/08
I’m having Thrillkiller and Aosdanasaoi camp the spider cave in Dustwallow Marsh, on their respective realms. I need Mithril Bars on both accounts, especially since Panzergishi is about to get to level 35, and I’ll need to powerlevel both Engineering and Blacksmithing for him. I have to say, I have a new appreciation for some of the engineering items. The Goblin Death Ray one-shotted a level 37 spider in the cave, doing 1799 damage, which is impressive considering Aosdanasaoi only does about 100 damage per Sinister Strike normally.
Also, while leveling Clockworknyt to 240 Gnome engineering, before respeccing to Goblin, I made about 8 Goblin Cloaking Devices. At level 24, Morticide put one on before doing the dreaded corpse jump run to the demon merchant Vi’el in Winterspring, and had surprising success. I hit it right before the Elite demons noticed me at the outskirts of the canyon, and even without Dash, was able to get to the cave entrance before it wore off and I got killed. I ran back, resurrected, and was able to start camping Vi’el again. The reason it works so well is because it grants TRUE invisibility, not just stealth, like a rogue/druid has. Stealth is level dependent, so if the enemy is higher than you, he’ll most likely see you pretty easily. Invisibility works on any level mob (afaik). It only lasts for 10 seconds, and has a 1 hour cooldown, but it can be worth it in certain situations. That saved me about 2 additional corpse jumps, as well as a savings in armor repair. I need to level Morticide to 26, to get Dash, and see if I can run all the way to the cave before it wears off.
Also, I need to test to see if it works in combat situations, like a Rogue’s Flash Powder, to disengage from combat. It doesn’t say that it can’t be used in combat, so……. watch out for the amazing stealthing Tauren Warrior, coming soon to your neighborhood! You could use it to run up the ramp in Warsong Gulch, grab the flag, hit your Gnomish Harm Prevention belt, and then use Swiftness Potion/Rocket boots to run off the cliff in front. Hit your Parachute Cloak, and you’ll be way ahead of any pursuit.
I suppose I should start leveling in Tanaris, since that’s where Thorium veins spawn. The price of Thorium Bars on the servers have doubled, no doubt in keeping with the massive influx of monies that players are getting from doing their daily quests. Well, I don’t have a 70, and probably won’t have one for a long time. I earn my gold, a bit at a time, just by being good at spotting bargains, and knowing what crafteable items sell for big bucks. Heck, I don’t even use Bottomscanner, since I find my bargains by bidding/buying on stuff for my own characters.

The Spirals of Addiction
4/10/08
Darrowmere is very, very low pop. I have Morticide on Demon Soul camping the Darkmoon Faire, and I have my level 1 Gimmershred doing the same on Darrowmere. Morticide can log in at any time, and always find other people camping the 2 vendors, hoping for motes to spawn. I don’t really care, they’re a bonus, but I’m usually camping it for the herbs/scrolls/potions anyway. On Darrowmere, it’s a ghost town. Are all the people on there new to WOW? Not that it’s a bad thing, I have free rein over buying everything, I’m just wondering how well the motes and gems (Living Ruby, Talasite) will sell, if I want to do so.
Maybe it’s just that I’m stuck at work doing boring self-study reading, but I always have an anticipation of how great it will be to get home and start playing WOW. Then I get home, and get dragged down into my endless circle of checking my toons auctions, and reposting what didn’t sell. I need to quit that, and just get out and level, and have fun! On Daggerspine, Clock has 1100 gold, Panzer has 1600 gold, Tsuris has 1000 gold, Hang has 400 gold, Gwidd has 300 gold, Prey has 170 gold, Kishi has 150 gold, Ryo has 80 gold, Aos has 50 gold….even Doom has about 20 gold, and she’s only level 19.
On Demon Soul, Blood has 300 gold, Bull has 2600 gold, Bane has 200 gold, Kuko has 800 gold, Thrill has 50 gold, Mort has 300 gold, and my level 19 twink neutral auctioneer Sansetsukon, spending time in Booty Bay, has amassed 400 gold.
I think it’s time for a break from making gold, and just start leveling. It’s a lot more fun, even though I’m still finishing up grey or green quests, and I feel like I’m doing something worthwhile (virtually). I have been examining my gear on Bloodshrike and Bullkathos, and made them slightly more battle ready. On Bull, I replaced the Green Iron Helm with a level 42 plate helm, and decided to buy 12 stamina, 12 str plate leggings that had a +30 stamina and 12 Agi armor kit on it, for 65 gold. The cost of the kit itself was about 50 gold on the AH, so it wasn’t that much more for the leggings. Plus, getting a level 60 to attach it can become annoying. So, Bull will have those leggings for a loooong time. He’ll need better weapons too, as his are from level 37, and he’s 42 now.
------- Brainstorm!!!! (multiple exclamation marks, sure sign of a deranged mind). I’m thinking of turning my Twinks into Engineer/Jewelcrafters, or at least the ones on Daggerspine and Darrowmere. That will delay me having to have someone else take up the Jewelcrafting profession for a while, and I think I might actually have Doom be the permanent JC on my Daggerspine account. That will let Preyonyou continue to be a miner. Maybe, maybe not. I do want my priests to have some sort of attack trinket, but you don’t get to use it until level 30 anyways…. so many choices, arrggghh.

Neutral Auction House and recipes
4/9/08
I didn’t get around to ghostrunning in Outlands last night, but I did come to a realization that you can make a lot of gold by selling recipes on the neutral AH. Not useful recipes, like the Herbalist glove or Red Whelp glove, but the ones that completionists look for, like the Yellow Shirt from Darkshire, or the 2 Barrens recipes that Allies can rarely get. I’m talking about the Savory Deviate Delight and the Elixir of Giant growth, both of which only drop from mobs in the Barrens.
Even on a low pop server like Darrowmere, I can buy the Deviate recipe for 15 gold on the AH, and turn around and sell it for 50 gold. The Giant growth recipe I buy for 2 gold, and sell it for 10 gold. All you need is an alt posted in Booty Bay (the easiest neutral AH to get to), and a few minutes a day. I usually log out in the inn, so I don’t have to wait for 20 seconds to log out. Once I log in, I go to the leatherworking supplies vendor to look for the Shadowskin gloves recipe & the Gem-studded belt recipe, which I’ll sell on neutral AH or my capitol city AH for 5-6 gold and 3-4 gold, respectively.
Once I buy them, I jump off the ledge to talk to the engineering vendor, to buy Coarse blasting powder and occasionally the Accurate scope recipe (can sell for 1-3 gold in your own AH). Then check the guy at the end of the building who’s selling parrots, since he also sells the Black Swashbuckler shirt recipe ( can sell on your own AH for 3-5 gold). Then you head to the Auctioneer, and post the Savory Deviate Delight and Elixir of Giant growth recipes, and wait for the money to roll in.

Mote Extractor? We don't need no stinkin' mote extractor!

Good morrow, gentle readers! I just discovered something very cool on Allakhazam.com. I’ve always advocated camping the Darkmoon Faire for Motes of XXX, as well as the mid to high level herbs. Well, you can do that all the time now! I was looking at Mote of Fire, and it said that Dealer Najeeb, Dealer Tariq both sold Motes at 16 silver, in limited supplies. Adamantite frame was sold at 4 gold, Elemental Blasting Powder at 20 silver, Felsteel Stabilizer at 4.8 gold….. I smell a profit potential here. Not only that, I hate making mats and wasting the raw material if it doesn’t give me a skill point. I’d rather buy the item at a lower price, and sell the metal on the AH.

Brikkabrikkabrikka breakdown of how to run the AH
4/4/08
You know, I really don’t have a choice BUT to be flipping recipes on the Auction house in order to make gold. I’m going to need such a large amount of copper and bronze to level engineering on my new toons on Darrowmere that I wouldn’t have any to spare for the AH. Luckily, I don’t have to really farm for stuff to make money on, I just spend about 30 seconds every few hours to check vendors. Wartraveler sold a Blue Dragonscale recipe for 30 gold, and has sold off a few Deepdive helmet recipes as well. He’s up to at least 40 gold, even after sending 20 gold to Clockwrkmage, since he’s my main buyer. I sent him all the Blacksmithing recipes that Clock had saved up, so he can take over buying them, and it would free up a lot of room on Clock.
It’s really funny how much people will pay, when they don’t take the time to research how easy it is to get these recipes. “Ooooh, the Deepdive Helmet recipe is in Azshara, that’s too high level for me to go to, so I’ll buy it on the AH for 6 gold.” It’s freakin easy to get there! Go to the east of Orgrimmar, and follow the coastline into Azshara. It takes a while, but you can just watch TV while you’re waiting for your toon to get close to the lighthouse. Once you’re by the lighthouse, you’ll probably get killed by a monster, but so what? Run back from the spirit healer, and corpse jump if needed to get you close to the rocks in front of the lighthouse. You can get up them, it just takes practice. If needed, just die on those rocks, and rez inside the lighthouse. Boom, you’re there, ready to stock up!
The girl goblin sells Engineering supplies and the Deepdive helmet, and it refreshes quite rapidly, at least every 30 minutes or so. I’d recommend stocking up on about 12 deepdive recipes, and buy all the coarse blasting powder too. You’ll have several full 20 stacks that you paid (48 copper x20) about 10 silver for, that you can easily sell on the AH for 2.5-3 gold. The Deepdive helmets will definitely sell for 5-6 gold, and they only cost 36 silver. Just have an alt post one at a higher price to simulate competition.
The Blue Dragonscale Breastplate recipe is 2gold each, but you can easily sell them for 20-30 gold, even on a low pop server. Have an alt post one at a higher price to simulate competition, if needed.
The Chimeric recipe that Blimo sells…..it’s only 1.2 gold, but it doesn’t sell very well. I wouldn’t bother picking it up unless it’s for your own use.

My milkshake brings all the Mobs to the yard
3/26/08
Hmmm, not sure what has happened since the last time I wrote.
I got a new job, so I just started writing again on my new company laptop.
I’ve gotten almost all of my Alliance toons thru the Deadmines, and started my usual race for gold on my new server Darrowmere. I’ve only gotten Bloodshrike, my new BE hunter, to level 12, but my 6 other level 2-4 alts are pulling in the gold thru the AH. I sent Wartraveler, my Undead Warrior, immediately over to Swamp of Sorrows, without doing a single quest in his starting zone. I flew to Grom’Grol base camp, got killed immediately, and ghost ran to Stonard. Logged out, logged back in, and rezzed at the Spirit Healer. I picked up the Enchant Bracer: Deflection recipe and the Elixir of Demonslaying from the 2 vendors in the Inn there, and sent them to Clockwrkmage, who will be my Auction House Alt/Recipe Mule for a while. She’s collecting all the recipes she can get at a low price, to save for toons that will be picking up those professions later on.
After Wartraveler had collected about 8 of the Deflection recipes, I decided to go for the Green Dragonscale Breastplate recipe that the Draenai Leatherworking supplier in the Harborage will sell on rare occasions. I’ve sold about 2 of them so far, for about 30-40 gold each, but since Darrowmere is a low pop server, I guess a lot of people can’t afford it. I might have to lower my price.
It was pretty funny corpse-jumping to the Harborage from Stonard. Ghost running is easy, you just die, go to a spirit healer in a different zone, log out, log back in, and you're able to resurrect at the new spirit healer, without being ripped back to the spirit healer closest to where you originally died. What most people do though, since they don't know about ghost running, is called corpse-hopping. You die, you run back to your corpse, you stand on the perimeter of where you can resurrect, and you try to get closer to the destination you're headed. I don't recommend this, unless you're trying to get somewhere in the same zone. Well, in Swamp of Sorrows, the mobs there are about level 35-40, and as such, they have a high aggro radius towards a low level player. I swear, I'd have crocolisks and jaguars coming from a mile away to one-hit me when Wartraveler would respawn. I'd make it a little past the perimeter of my corpse, and be dead again. It probably would take a level 35 player 30 seconds to run from Stonard to the Harborage, but it took me about 15-20 minutes to make it there.

Ideas for explosives.....
11/26/07
What did my toons do over the Thanksgiving weekend? Well, Horde side they discovered that the prices for Arcanite bars have doubled, so I’ve been selling off my reserve bars at 22 gold each. That’s well worth it because I can always make more, especially when I switch my Warlock from Mining to Alchemy at level 35.
Ally side, I was working on my Shaman for most of the time, getting almost all of the Darkshore quests finished up, so I could go on to Stormwind and get all the quests for the Deadmines (VC). I also ran my Rogue and Shaman to Refuge Pointe-South Shore to get the flight points, and left the Rogue at SS to work on her fishing skills. There’s 3 pools that spawn right at the SS docks, so it’s easy to leave a character at the inn (so they can still rest, and avoid the 20 second countdown for logging out), and log into the character every hour or so to fish the pools and check Alchemy supplies for the lvl 21 healing potions, since the cost of mats for those potions is worth way more than you can get for a 5 stack of them. It’s nice to have those static pools, since they often drop unlocked lockboxes with a few silver, Bolts of wool and silk cloth, leather, and occasional weapons & recipes. After she’s gotten to 225 fishing, I’m going to run her up to the Hinterlands, and camp out at the engineering supplier there to get some Mithril Mechanical Dragonling recipes, and the Ironfeather Shoulders recipe that the vendors have. Also, I powerleved her Mining from 155 to 180, so she can definitely mine Iron and Mithril, both of which spawn right down the hill from the engineering supplier. It’s very worthwhile to leave a Mining alt there for a while, because you can put a big markup on both of those recipes, as well as collecting some Ore for your time.
I also progressed further in Redridge with my Rogue than any of my other characters, going up to kill the Mystic and Brute gnolls, collecting Rivets and Bolts for the bridge, and getting enough Rethban Ore for all of my characters in one collection. I joined up with a lvl 22 Rogue (I was level 24), and we clobbered everyone in the Rethban cave. In the back of the cave, there’s a ledge with a Mystic, some assorted Gnolls, and a Gnoll named Ardo Dirtpaw. He’s not associated with any quests, and he’s not elite. However, they’re all around the 22 level, and normally that would be kinda daunting to take all of them on at once. Not with Engineering! Every time we passed by the ledge, I’d go up, lay down a Goblin Land Mine, and shoot Ardo to bring them running over, just in time for the Land Mine to arm itself and explode. The ones left alive immediately start running, and it only takes one hit to kill them after that. If the Mystic would run over with the rest of them, I wouldn’t even get hurt at all. That’s an idea though. With groups of mobs that have casters, lay down the mine, shoot the caster, and run for it. That’ll force the casters to run towards casting distance, and they’ll get caught in the explosion as well.
I now only have Hangfire (Druid) to get all the VC quests, as well as leveling him and Kishigishi (Paladin) to Engineering lvl 225. Hangfire is 150, Kishi is 202 right now. I just discovered that the expert level (I didn’t check the Journeyman) Engineering trainers now have Artisan (Master?? XX) level training and recipes available on them, instead of having to trek down to Gadgetzan. Very nice, especially since I’d have to fly to Ironforge for the 150 to 225 level of Engineering, and run back and forth between the trainer and the forge every 10 levels or so. Now I can train in Stormwind, where the forge is just across the plaza from the trainers. Kudos to Blizzard!
Return of the Prodigal Druid

Preyonyou (my Draenai Priest) is now level 24, and happily tucked away in Thelgen Rock, so I can log on and do a quick sweep thru the cave every few hours, killing all the spiders and getting all the chests and ore. I’m going to do that with all my miners once they powerlevel to 140, so they can easily achieve 155 mining, and be able to powerlevel again.
I finally brought my Horde druid Morticide back from Winterspring. I had been keeping him there to buy Felcloth (80 silver) and Gromsblood (10 silver) from the demon merchant Vi’el, and figured I had enough. Felcloth doesn’t spawn very often, so by the time I got 24 Felcloth, I had gotten 140 Gromsblood. That should sell for a good amount on the AH, if I don’t decide to use all of it for leveling my 2nd Alchemist Bonescourge, once he hits level 35.

W007! Level 20 on my druid Hangfire! Only my paladin is left to get to level 20 now, and then I’ll go back to my Horde account for a while. I had left my Druid resting in the Inn at Astranaar in Ashenvale, so I ran over to Silverwing Refuge to get cookbooks for everyone, since I’ve gotten all of my characters to 125 cooking at least. Since I was close, I decided to go thru the Talondeep path into Stonetalon, and get the flightpath there. I’ve heard that druids are tough opponents, but after playing my other characters, I’ve found some drawbacks. Yes, they can shapeshift, but at what price? When shapeshifted, you can’t use items like healing potions and engineering goodies, and you can’t heal yourself. If you shapeshift back to human form to set a bomb, you lose all that rage/energy that you’ve built up. I might just become an Elementalist druid, only switching to bear/cat form for tough, single opponents.
On my Horde account, I’m just chilling, keeping up with my Arcanite Bar transmute and Mooncloth transmute. I have 30 mooncloth right now, and I’ve already used some in making a Mooncloth bag (16 slot non-BOE). I found that you can actually buy Felcloth in Winterspring, instead of buying it at inflated prices on the AH, so I sent my level 16 Tauren druid over to Moonglade with about 50 gold to stock up. I had him drown himself, then I went corpse traveling in spirit form to Winterspring. So much easier than jumpfrogging my corpse, and getting all my equipment to 0 durability within the first few deaths. That came later. So I got to the goblin village in Winterspring, logged out, logged back in, and rezzed at the spirit healer right by the village. Grabbed the flight path, and took off running south down the path. I got about halfway down, and a bear killed me. I was expecting it though, so I didn’t care. But, I found out there’s another Spirit Healer in Winterspring, about 10 feet from where I got killed, so that worked out well. I ran to my corpse, stood on the outermost edge of where I could resurrect, and took off running again. I didn’t get killed again until I got to the 2 demon guards in front of the first cave in Darkwhisper Gorge, where Vi’el the imp vendor is. They killed me in one hit, and killed me again about halfway to the cave after I rezz’d. The Fel hound outside killed me right in front of the cave, and I finally rezz’d right behind Vi’el. He has a limited supply of Gromsblood at 10 silver (up to 5 at a time) and Felcloth at 80 silver (up to 2 at a time), so I’m just going to leave the druid there to stock up.
